Kurt Aron, manager of the department store here formerly owned by Leonard Tietz, was released by the Frankfurt police from the protective arrest under which he had been held since Tuesday when a mob gathered in front of the store and attempted to lynch him.
Aron, who is Jewish, was accused by the leaders of the mob of having “made an immoral proposal to an Aryan girl.” He left police custody for his home where he was confined tonight by illness.
The management of the department store invited the entire staff to a meeting where the general manager of the store announced that the charges against Aron had been proven false and that he would remain with the concern as hitherto.
The charges against Aron were first circulated in a Nazi leaflet and later reprinted in the local press. Aron is a war veteran with a distinguished service record and is one of the few Jews who have not been dismissed from their posts, this being undoubtedly due to the fact that he is known as one of the most capable executives in his field.
