###ome of the outstanding and liberal finds of Oxford University are im###ressed by the increasing menace of Fascism in this country.

A meeting of anti-Fascisti was convened last night under the chairmanship of A. D. Lindsay, Master of Balliol. Four other senior members of the University attended.

One of the attending professors expressed the belief that the Fascist movement has gained ground in the southern rural districts of England. He said that it is rumored that Jews have been subjected to ###eatings in many country market places.

“Up and down the country,” said the speaker, “there are numbers of ###rade unionists who on account of being out of work, are unable to ###ay their subscriptions. It is inevitable, I suppose, that their unions should begin to ignore them. At all events they are a ready prey for the Fascisti to exploit.

WHAT HAPPENED IN GERMANY

“Not long ago I spoke with fifty or sixty trade unionists only one or two of whom still retain their affiliation with their unions. I believe {SPAN}###e{/SPAN} of the principal reasons for the {SPAN}###apse{/SPAN} of trade unionism in the {SPAN}###ch{/SPAN} under the crushing blows of {SPAN}###er{/SPAN} is to be found in the {SPAN}enor###ous{/SPAN} number of lapsed men, in {SPAN}###hom{/SPAN} their former unions took little {SPAN}###no{/SPAN} interest.”

It is interesting to note in this connection that membership in British trade unions has decreased ###y about 408,000 members since ###931, principally in coal, engineering, ship-building, textiles, iron and steel trades.

Andrew Conley, president of the ###rades Union Congress, said:

“We realize the position is grave. ### special committee has considered ### and we reported to the Trades Union Congress on it. We have between 130 and 140 unemployed workers’ associations keeping in ###ouch with the situation. In many ###nions the men are able to maintain ###embership by paying from a penny ### three-pence weekly. But much ###ore needs to be done.”

FASCISTI PROPAGANDA

He compared with the agitation {SPAN}###nd{/SPAN} “inside work” of Communists, {SPAN}###e{/SPAN} propaganda work of the {SPAN}Fas###sti{/SPAN}, saying that “they are working {SPAN}###ard{/SPAN} to ingratiate themselves with {SPAN}###e{/SPAN} working classes, and {SPAN}undoubted###{/SPAN} we have got to meet the challenge {SPAN}###ith{/SPAN} the greatest vigor. We cannot {SPAN}###fford{/SPAN} to wait.”

In spite of denials to the con###ary the British Union of Fascists, ###eaded by Sir Osward Mosley, has been established as definitely an ###nti-Semitic organization. Its latest ###arge is that the Jews “are striv###g to involve Britain in a war.” ###r Oswald insists that he has no ###udge against “the Jews as a ###dy.”
