Nazi Groups, Organizing Throughout U.s., Push Campaign of Propaganda Against Jews

the meeting that all children of German parents be brought into the children’s group of the Friends of New Germany. They were given a Christmas party with the objective of intensifying their interest in Hitlerism.

At the meeting of the organization in Woodside, Bund Leader Enders urged all Germans to make their Christmas purchases at German stores and to make sure that the goods were made in Germany. “This is our best answer to the boycott problem,” Enders said.

In White Plains for the first time “Die Fahne Hoch”—Hitlerite anthem, was sung, as the Widukind League merged its numbers with the Friends of New Germany.

Das Neue Deutschland, organ of the League of Friends of New Germany, reflecting the recent growth of the organization, appeared on the streets with considerably more than half its volume taken up by advertising matter. The paper is published by Dr. I. T. Griebl, who recently resigned his post in the Harlem hospital when his record of racial prejudice was presented to city authorities.

As a further indication of success, the publisher announced that beginning in January, the paper, formerly a semi-monthly, will appear weekly, together with an enlarged English edition, the German Outlook. At the same time he publishes an advertisement declaring his paper is “the only official organ of the Friends of New Germany,” and asks readers to accept no substitute. The statement is seen as an effort to ensure its prestige against a competing Nazi publication, “Amerika’s Deutsche Post”, which is published by Friedrich Heiss, and has the editorial support of William Dudley Pelley, Silver Shirt leader, and has been rapidly gaining in the field of anti-Semitic publications.

Das Neue Deutschland, in the name of the Friends of New Germany, has declared a boycott of anti-German boycotters. The pronouncement advises that men and women readers of the paper patron-“Deutscher Waren” (German Goods ize stores which display the sign, “Deutscher Waren” (German Goods). “Boycott the Boycotters!” the publication advises. “Buy at stores which display signs ‘In New Germany’.”

The paper’s front page gives much space to the policies of the new paper which will attempt to “bring into a common front the Germans and the best people of this land to combat the dangers which threaten the United States in that country’s fight against pacifism and the Marxist world trend.”

TRAIL-BLAZERS

“Das Neue Deutschland,” says the editorial, “wants Germans in New York and throughout the entire country to be the front line and trail blazers, guardians and awakeners, friends and advisers” to these activities.

In its most recent issue, Amerika’s Deutsche Post attacks the Jews in this country as having become prosperous by virtue of America’s sufferings during the World War—a repetition of attacks made against the Jews in Germany. The entire front page of the paper is devoted to advocating the overthrow of “Big Business and Great Jewry” in this nation’s affairs.

The article is virtually a reprint of anti-Semitic propaganda so familiar to Germans today. It merely locates the Jewish influence in this country rather than Germany. It states that the common people are being downtrodden through Jewish control of communications and public utilities as well as important offices. The propaganda follows implicitly that adopted by the forces of Adolf Hitler in their bid for power. Amerika’s Deutsche Post-devotes much of its English language section to an editorial by William Dudley Pelley and his anti-Semitic views.
