The hope “that other countries also would soon follow Germany’s example with regard to the Jews” was expressed here tonight by Dr. Wilhelm Frick, Minister of the Interior, when he addressed a meeting of foreign diplomatic representatives at the Hotel Adlon.
The meeting was convened by Alfred Rosenberg, recently appointed ot “supervise the entire inteollectual and philosophical shooling” of the Nazi party, under the auspices of the Nazi Foreign Department.
Asserting that racial problems also played important part in the laws of the United States, Frick expounded the usual allegations against the Jews and claimed that the Germans had the right to become master in their own house.
‘JEWISH RELIGION FREE’
Dr. Frick also made a number of other points, stating that Nazi legislation would not be directed against the religious intersts of the Jews, which had not been interfered with anyway, and that the Aryan clause would not be modified, since it was promulgated because of the necessity to provide safety for the Reich and its administration.
The government was not considering the mass deportation of Jews, the speaker said, at the same time emphaszing that the fourth clause of the Nazi programmes would be observed. This clause states that Jews cannot be considered German citizens on number of the German nation.
While Jews cannot occupy state or municipal positions, foreigner, provided they are Aryans, are eligible for both categories, Frick said, concluding his talk with the assertion that public opinion abroad is finally beginning to understand German politics and Germany’s relations with the Jews.
