A christening certificate and proof that the applicant is of German origin were demanded yesterday from applicants for the post of director of the cure resort, Bad Gastein. The Austrian government commissar in charge of the resort invited applications from all who fulfil the requirements “except Jews.”

The Austrian Jewish press pointed out that the action of the commissar is an infringement of the Austrian constitution. Foreign Jewish visitors, who constitute the largest number of patrons of Bad Gastein, were warned to avoid this resort and others where Nazi sympathies are manifested.
