A masked numerus clauses enforced by the Lithuianian government was revealedtoday when it became known that seventy-nine out of eighty Jewish students who applied for admission to the University this year failed in their examinations.
All of the eighty students in question were enrolled last year as free students, which meant that they were not matriculated, but allowed to attend lectriculated, but allowed to attend lectures in the hope of being enrolled officially this year and permitted to take the examinations. Failure in the examinations means complete expulsion from the university and refusal to allow them to attend even as free students.
