The appointment of a special British commercial agent for Palestine in line with the growing trade between the two nations and between Britain and countries neighboring on the Holy Land, was announced today by Major D. J. Colville, Parliamentary secretary of Overseas Trade and Export.
The announcement was a rejoinder to Mr Somerville, member of Parliament, who had suggested the appointment of a special trade commissioner with headquarters at Tel Aviv.
Mr. Somerville urged that the commissioner be sent to Palestine in time for the opening of the forth-coming Levant Fair, an industrial exposition scheduled in Tel Aviv.
Mayor Colville gave assurances that the commercial agent will proceed to Palestine for the Fair, but he did not say whether headquarters would be established in Tel Aviv. he said with certainty, however, that the agent would make whatever visits to Palestine occasion demanded.
