A bill, believed to be a blow toward dissemination of Nazi progaganda in this State, was introduced into the Stae Legislature Monday by Minority leader Rafferty of Middlesex. The measure aims to apply severe penalties against those guilty of spreading propaganda against any group because of their religion, race or color.
While the bill does not mention any specific organization, it is believed to be aimed at Nazi propagandists in this State. It would materially stengthen the constitutional rights of civil and religions liverty here. The measure prohibits issuing, possessing or disseminating propaganda, whether oral or written, which “tendas to subject any group or groups to prejudice. shame, hatred, ridicule, disgrace or contempt by reason of race. color, religion, creed or manner of worship.” It also bans delivery by hand or circulation in any manner, by mail or otherwise, of any such propaganda.
