A new provisional constitution for the city of Vienna was formally proclaimed today. The document provides that the municipal council shall consist of sixty-four councillors. No elections are provided for, only nominations.
According to the new constitution, the Lord Mayor of Vienna is to be appointed by Chancellor Dollfuss. The new mayor will in turn appoint the councillors, including twelve to represent the autonomous cultural corporations; three Roman Catholic representatives, one for the Protestants, and one for the Jews of Vienna. Thus the Jews, who constitute ten per cent of the population, will have only one representative.
