An official communication concerning the immigration concerning the immigration of German Jews to Chile was released here over the seal of the foreign minister. The text is as follows.

“The foreign minister of Chile, S. Miguel Cruchaga Tocornal, on March 15 had an interview at the foreign ministry with Herr Heinz Gotthilf, correspondent of the “Juedisclic Rundschau” official organ of the Zionist Federation of Germany, concerning matters in connection with the immigration of German Jews to Chils and said:

“I The government of the Chilean Republic regards with great interest and sympathy the various requests which it has received concerning the immigration of German Jews to Chile. The government awaits the arrival of information and replies to inquiries made by it in the matter, in order to be able to issue a detailed communication on the subject.

“2 The government has received a request from Spain concerning the immigration of two thousand German Jews. Although the Chilean government makes no distinction between Jews and non-Jews in questions of immigration, it finds an immigration of such proportions undesirable in view of the widespread unemployment in the country.

“3 The 12000 Jews who live in Chile represent an industrious element which has become well acclimated to the country.

“Seal of the Foreign Minister.”
