The well known Jewish impressario, Israel Spann, today cabled an invitation to Professor George Schmidt, head of the Soviet Arctic expedition now isolated on ice-floes in the Arctic Ocean, to make a world lecture tour under his auspices, after his group is rescued.
The Soviet government radio station in Moscow transmitted the cable to the expedition.
Professor Schmidt headed the expedition which left for the Arctic in the Soviet ice-breaker Chelyushkin. The ship was crushed in the ice and the expedition transferred all its supplies to the ice including its radio equipment.
The success of the group in landing all the supplies is attributed to the heroic work of Boris Mogile witch, Jewish supply officer of the expedition, who was killed when he left the ship. He was the last one to leave.
Several rescue parties, including a group of Soviet aviators now in Alaska, are attempting to reach the stranded expedition.
