A call for a conference to unite the many anti-Hitler organizations in their struggle against Hitler fascism and Nazi propaganda in the United States was issued yesterday by the United Anti-Nazi Conference Committee. an affiliate of the American Division of the World Committee to Aid the Victims of Hitler Fascism, of which Lord Dudley Marley is honorary chairman.

The meeting will be held Saturday, May 5, at the Irving Plaza Hall, Fifteenth street and Irving place.

The purpose of the conference, according to the invitation issued by the committee, will be fourfold:

1. To aid all victims of the Hitler regime.

2. To arouse public opinion against the Hitler government and against the spread of Nazi propaganda and organization in this country.

3. To strengthen the anti-Nazi boycott movement.

4. To demand asylum for political refugees from the Hitler persecution.

The committee, which is non sectarian, has a number of German affiliates, including the German Nature Friends and the German Workers’ Sick and Death Funds, with more than 100 branches in New York City.

In an appeal issued from the committee’s offices at 870 Broadway, all American citizens are called upon to organize a broad movement against the Hitlerite terror abroad and its echoes in this country.

Reviewing the present German government???s year in power, with its brutalities, oppression and persecution, the appeal continues:

NAZIS AT WORK HERE

“The Hitler government is not content with its regime of imperialist war and destruction of human rights in Germany, but is spreading its propaganda to other countries, including the United States.

“Under various titles, Nazi groups are at work in many sections of city and country, spreading their vicious doctrines, fomenting hatred of the Jews, Negroes, and other minorities, attempting to pave the way for a similar type of fascist government here. Hitler agents have invaded the local territories, colleges. organizations, and hundreds of Nazis have been smuggled into this country to carry on their activities. The Hitler fascist program of intolerance, hate, persecution of religious and radical groups, has already contributed to the growth of fascist tendencies in the United States, to the increase of anti-Semitism, and to the growth of American fascist groups, such as the Silver Shirts, Khaki Shirts, Union of Fascists, and others.

“The protest of men and women everywhere has been aroused against the Nazi regime of te## and persecution. A strong unified anti-fascist movement, embracing all organizations and individuals opposed to Hitler fascism and the growth of fascist organization in the United States, is the only effective weapon in checking this menace to civilization and world peace.”
