Samuel Duff McCoy, the author of the series, tells of the violently anti-Semitic character of the Silver Shirts who have enrolled a membership of 75,000, under the leadership of William Dudley Pelley. They are now centering attention on the “actionist arm,” a uniformed military branch known as the Silver Rangers.

Frederic A. Steele, another contributor to Today, quotes the Silver Shirts as saying “the membership of the Silver Legion of America already exceeds in numbers the combined forces of the army and police units of the United States.”
