Intense community interest has been displayed in the miniature “Romance of a People,” which will be enacted here tomorrow night by 250 boys and girls in the auditorium of the Eastside High School. Practically the entire house has been sold out.
The pageant is sponsored by the local Reuben Kaufman Post No. 36, Jewish War Veterans of the United States, and the ladies’ auxiliary. It will portray the outstanding parts of the Old Testament, beginning with the heroic struggle of Israel for existence and ending with a vision of the future in Modern Palestine.
Ministers, rabbis, and public of ficials are serving on an honorary committee. They include: Mayor John V. Hinchliffe, William L. Dill, John R. Wilson, Harry B. Haines, Abe J. Greene, John R. Wilson, Nathan Rabinowitz, Robert J. McDermott, the Rev. John F. Mull gan, the Rev. Ernest A. Elwell, the Rev. Louis R. Binder, Rabbi Max Raisin, Rabbi Reuben Kaufman, Albert M. Dorfman, commander of the local post; and Mrs. Jeanette W. Levine, president of the ladies’ auxiliary of the post.
The general committee consists of: I. Samuel Epstein, general chairman; Joseph S. Goodman, business executive; Mrs. Lillian Brett, secretary; Mrs. Y. S. Levine and Sidney V. Levine, publicity, and Joseph Eilenberg, Mrs. Frances Epstein, and Mrs. Shirley Rubenstein.
