A delegation of Jewish physicians and dentists appeared before government officials today to present a concerted protest against the projected limitation on further immimigration of their colleagues.
The recent influx of medical men from Germany has more than doubled the number of physicians in the Holy Land. As a result a considerable number of Arab physicians protested, claiming that the newcomers were injuring their practice. Although exact figures are not available, it is reported that to date the predominating number of practicing doctors and dentists in Palestine is Jewish.
The chief secretary to the government promised the delegation that he would examine the protest memorandum, but in an informal statement said that the government fears that continued immigration of refugce doctors will have a “negative” effect on the present medical practice.
