Preach Against Capitalism Says Ousted Minister

“Ethical ideals of Israel’s prophets can never be reconciled with the dog-eat-dog jungle law of capitalism. Every Christian minister and Jewish rabbi must preach against capitalism or ethical religion must die.”

This was the message of the Rev. Fred W. Shorter, recently ousted from Pilgrim Congregational Church after a bitter controversy over painted murals on the church’s walls-one of which depicted a German Jew crucified on a swastika-before 250 B’nai B’rith members at Temple Center here.
