After heated wrangling since the old wage contract expired between the union and the employers here, it was announced that the bakers of Jewish bread have relinquished their demand for an increase and will sign a new contract at the old scale.

They now are paid $50 and $54 a week, for second and first-hand bankers. None, however, earns this much, since all work part-time to spread employment.
