Simultaneously with the launching of the $1,200,000 United Jewish Appeal in the metropolitan area, Jewish leaders of Westchester County today called two sectional meetings to raise their quota of the fund.

Port Chester Jewry will gather at the Jewish Center Wednesday night to open the drive.

On Thursday Mount Vernon Zionist and Joint Distribution Committee heads will hold a “pep” dinner for one hundred workers at Temple Emanu-El.

The Port Chester campaign will be directed by J. M. Rosen as temporary chairman, assisted by Louis M. Shanok, executive director of the Center. In Mount Vernon Dr. Elias A. Margolis, president of the Rabbinical Assembly and rabbi of Emanu-El, will be principal speaker.

PELHAM JEWS JOIN

Harry P. Fierst, of the Zionist Organization, and a co-chairman in Mount Vernon’s $15,000 appeal, said that for the first time in Westchester history Pelham Jews have joined a campaign.

Mark Eisner, chairman of the Westchester County Division, announced that committees have been organized in virtually every large Westchester community.

The Westchester drive, he said, will officially be inaugurated June 3 at a dinner in County Center here. Governor Lehman and other notable Jews will be the speakers.
