A final check-up here shows that an unprecedented number of Jewish citizens were nominated for the Assembly at the state primaries.
On the Republican ticket the following were chosen: Atlantic County, Speaker Joseph Altman; Essex County, Sidney G. Goldberg; Hudson County, Henry E. Bloch and Morris Chester; Middle-sex County, Herman Ringle; Passaic County, Oscar Wilensky.
On the Democratic slate, the following were nominated or renominated: Atlantic City, Alexander Blatt; Burlington County, Daniel Lichtenthal; Cumberland County, Harry Adler; Essex County, David M. Satz and Nathaniel J. Klein; Hudson County, Assembiyman Samuel Pesin; and in Union County, Lewis Winetsky and Samuel Davidson.
Congressman Isaac Bacharach, of Atlantic City, was renominated on the Republican ticket, George M. Eichler, of Hoboken, was nominated for State Senator from Hudson County on the Republican ticket.
Dr. Samuel Alexander, Republican, was nominated for the Bergen County Board of Freeholders; Harry Behrman, of Paterson, Republican, for the Passaic County Board; and Charles Hood, of Newark, Democrat, for the Essex County Board.
Among the surprise upsets were the defeat of Louis A. Fast, of Newark, for the Republican nomination for Congress in the Twelfth District, and the defeat of Samuel J. Kessler, president of the Newark Y. M.-Y. W. H. A., for renomination as Democratic State Committeeman.
