Bernard S. Deutsch, president of the Board of Aldermen, was principal speaker at a farewell gathering to Sholom Schwartz bard, who killed the notorious Ukrainian terrorist Petlura, last night at Town Hall. Mr. Deutsch spoke of Schwartzbard’s life and of the circumstances which led to his deed.

Schwartzbard himself discussed his career as a soldier of fortune and as principal in the Petlura affair. He asserted that although the Jews reacted to his deed in a number of different ways, the non-Jewish world accepted his deed as a matter of course and as an act of justice in behalf of his people.

J. George Fredman, former national commander of the Jewish War Veterans, also spoke. Z. Tygel, executive director of the Federation of Polish Jews, presided, and the addresses were preceded with a musical program.
