A mass meeting against Fascism and War will be held by the Teachers Anti-War Committee and affiliated organizations Saturday evening at the Central Opera House, 205 East Sixty-seventh street.
Speakers will include LeRoy E. Bowman, member of the Executive Board of the Teachers Union, and director of the Child Study Association; Dr. S. Margoshes, editor of the “Day” ;Norman H. Tallentire, League Against War and Fascism; Maria Halberstadt, exiled German teacher, and Harold Farmer, of the Marine workers Industrial Union. Irving Adler, secretary of the Teachers Anti-War Committee, will preside.
In the announcement of the meeting, addressed to teachers, parents and students, the Committee says:
“In 1917, school assemblies, parades and lessons were used to whip up war hatreds. Thousands of students were dressed up in uniforms and sent to the trenches in France. ‘Loyalty’ pledges were imposed upon teachers. Results:
“For parents and students: 10,000,000 killed. “For big business: $12,000 profit for every soldier killed.”
