The authority of the Jewish Community Council was upheld today when the Superior Court dismissed injunction proceedings by Schochet I. Schwartz, who was outlawed by the council.

The judge ruled that according to the law of the Jewish faith slaughtering meat is a religious act and the Rabbinical Council therefore is the only recognized authority. Schwartz was prohibited from using the slaughter house if he worked without recognition by the council.

The decision is considered a victory for the council in its effort to obtain control of the sale of kosher meat.
