Add ‘tannhauser’ to Operatic List

Wagner’s “Tannhauser” will be added to the repertoire of the Hippodrome Opera Company Wednesday night. Harold Lindi will make his first appearance of this season as Manrico in “Il Trovatore” on Tuesday night. The second performance of Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” will take place next Saturday night with the original east.

There will be no opera on Monday evening, which will be devoted to a sports program under the direction of Humbert J. Fugazy and Jack Pfefer.

Other performances this week, besides those already mentioned, follow: Tonight, “Lohengrin”; Thursday evening, “Samson et Dalila”; Friday evening, “La Traviata”; and next Sunday evening, Rossini’s opera in Italian, “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

Lola Monti Gorsey, Jewish member of the company, will sing the role of “Violetta” in “La Traviata” Friday night.

JUNIOR HADASSAH ELECTS

The following slate of officers were presented and elected at the final joint meeting of New York Junior Hadassah:

Alice Bernstein, honorary president; Lea Weisberger, president ex-officio; president, Rose W. David; organization chairman, Naomi Brodie, and membership chairman, Adele Miller. Committee chairmen are: Esther Novogrodsky, Lillian Glass, Diana P. Elficon, Frances Becker, Sylvia Robinson, Hannah Brucker and Rose Bernstein.
