There are Communists and Communists but who would have dreamed that Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Rabbi Wise, Lillian Wald, Elmer Rice, Morris L. Ernst and Arthur Garfield Hays are plotting the overthrow of the United States government?

The New York Post, enterprising newspaper which recently has gone in for creating sensations, yesterday disclosed the existence of a list—lists and slogans are the things these days—ostensibly of persons bent upon destruction of capitalism, compiled by Mrs. Albert W. (Elizabeth) Dilling, of Kenilworth, Ill., one-time active anti-Semite and would-be crusader to “clean up Palestine,” who sees Red in high places.

Others in###ded in the list are Horace Liveright, Fannie Hurst and Arthur Bodansky.

Mayor LaGuardia himself, who said the list gave him the best laugh he has had in years, had the menacing finger pointed at him. A red? “It’s not the first or last list I’ve been on,” he said.

Arthur Garfield Hays, Jewish attorney of international repute, laughed heartily over the telephone when asked for comment on the Dilling list.

“I’d be ashamed not to be on it,” he said, “with all that company. Some of my friends are slighted because they were not included.”

Morris L. Ernst stated emphatically that the charge is not true, but said he is “proud to be on the list.”
