Work is under way for the establishment of the National Organization of Jewish Youth, connected with reform temples throughout the country, as provided for in a resolution adopted by the commission on Jewish education of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Central Conference of American Rabbis, at the annual meeting at Wernersville, Pa.
This work is to be done in cooperation with the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. Progress during the year is revealed in reports of various committees of the commission on Jewish education. Considerable textbook literature has been prepared for use in religious schools and congregations, including seventy-eight works for the elementary department, seven for the high school department, forty-six for youth and adult education, and fifteen for teacher training.
Other items are intended for extra-curricular activities, general reading and research. In the near future “The Status of the Jew in Germany,” by Dr. Jacob R. Marcus, professor of history at the Hebrew Union College, will go to press. It is intended for adult groups.
A course on “Choosing Your Vocation” has been prepared for Jewish young men and women by Dr. Joseph Zubin, of New York City, under the auspices of the committee on youth education.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
