Impressive exercises tonight marked the thirteenth anniversary of the transition of the Pacific Hebrew Orphan Asylum into Homewood Terrace, the new institution built and operated on the cottage unit system.
One of the outstanding features of the program was the “March of Time Procession” to the stage in which all were included from the youngest lad at Homewood Terrace, 4 years of age, to the 64-year-old alumnus.
Speaking for the board of directors of the institution, Louis S. Haas, its president, paid high tribute to Dr. Samuel Langer, the superintendent, who conceived the idea of a child-caring institution where boys and girls are housed in single homes as independent family units, instead of the old congregate type of institution.
