A series of bomb explosions which caused considerable damage and killed a policeman broke out in Austria today. Government officials claimed that Austrian Nazis were bent upon destruction. A rumor persisted that the life of Louis Barthou, French Foreign Minister, who had been on a journey through Eastern Europe, was sought.
The explosion caused suspension of railway traffic at Voecklabruck, upper Austria, at Judenburg and at Bruck, in Styria, and at several places in the Tyrol. Headquarters of the Catholic League at Innsbruck and the salt works at Muehlau were bombed.
