A heavy blow to Jewish candidates for admission to the Palestine bar is seen in the text of the draft ordinance governing granting of permission to practice appearing in today’s official Gazette.

It provides that permits to practice law will be granted only to citizens of Palestine or those given entry to the country as professional advocates.

Operation of this ordinance is expected to prevent German Jewish immigrants who previously practiced law in Germany from earning their livelihood in the profession here.
