Jewish youth in Germany is facing the future determined to readjust itself as a result of conditions imposed by hostile Nazi influences, Pauline Baerwald, junior division chairman of the American Joint Distribution Committee, declared today before the opening session of the eleventh annual international convention of Aleph Zadik Aleph, youth branch of B’nai B’rith.

More than 500 delegates from 150 cities in the United States and Canada heard Miss Baerwald describe social conditions in Germany as she saw them recently.

While young Jews in the Reich are inspired with a determination to make the best of their plight, she said, their elders are discouraged and disillusioned. An intensive Jewish youth movement is under way, she revealed.

A feature of today’s conference was the Advisers’ Round Table, an innovation at which representatives from all districts had an opportunity to discuss local organizational problems.
