Adolf Hitler spent an hour in a tirade against the Jews and the Communists, the London Morning Post comments dryly in its report of The Chancellor’s speech before the Reichstag Friday, when Der Fuehrer told his story of the Roehmvon Schleicher revolt and enumerated the slaughterings which were found necessary to curb it.
The London Times finds that the Chancellor of the Reich and supreme leader of the National Socialists dealt with four groups in rendering his accounts at the Kroll Opera House. None of these groups played any spiritual role in the German so-called renaissance.
HUNDRED YEARS’ WAR
Firstly, declared The Times, Hitler concerned himself in his speech with the apostles of philosophical and economic communism causing mass terror. The second group is perceived to be “those Jewish international benefactors of humanity” whose ranks have grown weaker but whose existence is still perceptible, and whose last remnants the National Socialist State will uproot in a Hundred Years’ War, if necessary. The Times identifies the other two classes with which Hitler dealt as the political leaders whose future was destroyed on January 30 and who were not content to recognize the irrevocability of that decisive date, and also those who desired permanent revolution for the sake of revolution, so to speak.
The Jewish question is ignored by the rest of the London press in treating Friday’s developments.
