Ten Jewish dead were added today to the list of victims of the disastrous floods which yesterday swept over Southwest Poland. The list of victims is now well over 100, mostly Jewish.
The flood in Galicia has reached catastrophic dimensions, reports stated, with more than 200 Jewish families left without shelter or food.
An alarming telegram has reached the American Joint Distribution Committee office in Warsaw from the relief committee in Neusandez describing the utter destitution of the Jews and asking for immediate help.
Warsaw papers report that five Jews were drowned in the flood at Chrazanow and as many in Neusandez. A critical situation exists in Tarnow and the neighboring townships of Dambrowa, Sczucin and Zabnow, all centers of Jewish population.
According to late reports, Neusandez is completely flooded. All connections are destroyed. Even Krakau is endangered, especially the Jewish quarter Kazimerev, which is on the banks of the Vistula river.
