When informed by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency of the death in New York of Max J. Kohler, Dr. Stephen S. Wise expressed deep sorrow at the noted jurist’s passing.

“Kohler,” he declared, “like his father before him, that great Jewish theologian, Rabbi Kaufman Kohler, was one of the most useful and valuable members of the community. He was man of scholarly interests and tastes. Since the Hitler regime came into power he has been preparing and collating briefs which were submitted to the State Department and other branches of our government on behalf of the Joint Consultative Council. Kohler lived for his work and his memory will be kept fresh in the minds of Jewry the world over for his utter devotion to the Jewish cause.”
