The Cuban government today announced the appointment of Roberto Namer, a Sephardic Jew, as consul to Haifa, Palestine. Namer is the first Jew ever to be appointed by the Cuban government to a diplomatic post. His designation was recommended by most of the prominent political organizations, including the revolutionary parties backing the present regime.
