Jacques Bigart, secretary general of the Alliance Israelite Universelle, central French Jewish organization, died suddenly today as he was working in the office of the Alliance. M. Bigart was 78 years old.
He was born in Mutterholz, Alsace, in 1855. He was educated in the lower French schools, the rabbinical seminary in Paris and in French universities, where he studied law. In 1881 he became assistant secretary of the Alliance and in 1892 he succeeded Isidore Loeb as secretary.
