Symbolic of the Jewish part in the building of Rochester is the display set up by members of the seventeen Rochester synagogues at the city’s Centennial of Progress now being conducted and celebrating the granting of a city charter in 1834.

A replica of a synagogue altar comprises the Jewish booth. It contains exact copies of the Ark of the Covenant, the tablets of the Ten Commandments and the candelabra.
