Blaming the recent riots against the Jews in Algeria partly on the fact that many are said to be sympathetic to Socialism and Communism, Le Temps, conservative French daily, nevertheless declared that more outbreaks could be expected.
“No one dares to say that anti-Semitism won’t burst out again more violently in Morocco,” the paper said, adding that there were frequent clashes. While there had been no killings, the situation was none-the-less dangerous and might flare up any minute, Le Temps declared.
Chief among the causes for anti-Semitism in Morocco are the general economic crisis, Hitlerite propaganda and the alleged enrichment of the Moroccan Jews, according to the French newspaper.
