August 24, 1934.

To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:

Catholics and Protestants have joined with the Jews in attacking the tyrannical government of Germany and now Bernard Deutsch, one of our leaders, goes to Mexico and commends that government which is denying liberty to Christians to practice their religion. The articles which have appeared in the daily press during the past few days have been thrown up at me in a half dozen places. It is instances like this that make the future of Jewry most difficult.

HURT CAMPAIGN

To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:

I do not think the campaign in behalf of our stricken brethren in Germany has received any greater blow than that given by the conduct of Bernard S. Deutsch, President of the Board of Aldermen, in Mexico. Here we are laboring to get everybody to join the boycott in order to uphold the freedom of our people in Germany and Mr. Deutsch goes to Mexico and warmly approves of the persecution of Catholics there. To many of our people this is shocking.
