A report is current here that the Emir Abdullah has written to the High Commissioner for Palestine drawing his attention to the promise made to Arabs in 1916 by Sir Henry MacMahon for their independence in Palestine, and asking that some additional measure of self-government be granted to them.

The Emir asks that he be forgiven for taking the liberty of raising the issue, which he does as “a neighbor anxious for the welfare of Palestine and as a personal friend of General Wauchope.”

The High Commissioner has just spent a couple of days at a desert camp with the Emir, and it is believed that the letter may be the outcome of conversations between them.
