“To the only deserving girl violinist I know” — that’s what Efraim Zimbalist wrote to Judith Poska, twenty – two – year – old local Jewish girl, concert master of radio station KFWB’s orchestra in Los Angeles.

He wrote it in a note, and sent along as a gift an $18,000 violin made 183 years ago by Thomas Balestrieri. Two years ago Zimbalist taught Miss Poska. She has won national musical acclaim.

News of the gift was announced by Dr. Abraham Poska, her father.
