The Palestine government intends to proceed with its plan for the creation of a legislative council in the Holy Land, no matter what opposition develops, Near East and India, influential British magazine, declared today.
“We can safely assure those interested that there is nothing to the Palestine Hebrew press reports stating that an advisory council, made up of heads of government departments, will be appointed instead of a legislative council,” the magazine said. “According to the reports this advisory council would discuss Palestine affairs, but not touch on vital matters affecting Britain’s obligations to Palestine.
TO BE BASED ON ELECTIONS
“The Palestine government has every intention of proceeding with a set plan for the creation of a legislative council on a basis of elections according to the numerical proportions of the Palestinian population.
“If the Jews and Arabs refuse to participate in the elections for the council, then it will be appointed by the High Commissioner and will hold office until such elections are feasible,” Near East and India stated.
