Celebrating the sixtieth birthday of President Antanas Smetona, all Jewish organizations paraded with banners in Vileishis Square.
Special prayers were said in all synagogues. Jewish homes and shops illuminated their windows with photographs of the President. The Association of Jewish War Veterans published a special magazine, reviewing Smetona’s life work, in honor of the occasion.
