The British Labor Party is determined that “we shall never become the victims of a Fascist regime,” W. R. Smith, chairman of the party, said in opening the annual conference of the English Laborites here. The declaration was greeted with resounding cheers by delegates from every section of Great Britain.

“The area of the black plague of Fascism has now been extended to Austria,” Mr. Smith declared. “But despite the shirts, slogans and salutes, we recognize Fascism for what it is—the old deadly reaction, the historic enemy of the workers.”

The Laborite leader also attacked Sir Oswald Mosley, English Black Shirt “fuehrer” saying “there is no place in British national life for any semi-militarist political movement.”
