Sympathy with the movement to settle German Jewish refugees in the Soviet Union, particularly Biro-Bidjan, the Jewish autonomous region, was expressed here yesterday by Soviet Ambassador Alexander A. Troyanovsky, when he received a delegation of prominent business men, editors and economists, interested in the movement.
The delegation, which represented the American Committee for the Settlement of Jews in the Soviet Union, submitted a memorandum to the Soviet diplomat stressing the tragic position of the Jews in various countries and the urgency of finding refuge for them.
Ambassador Troyanovsky told the delegation that he was fully in sympathy with the objects of the organization and declared that he was cognizant of the urgency of the situation.
