Jo Swerling, Columbia scenarist, who has written the screen plays for many of the company’s successful productions, has been assigned to write a story around the life of Harry Houdini, the famous Jewish magician. It will serve as a vehicle for Fred Keating, now under contract to Columbia, who virtually stepped into the shoes of the great prestigitator, as the stage’s foremost magician, when the latter died.
