future condition where Jewish intelligence and aggressiveness seizes for itself the desirable plums in the Soviet structure, you can safely rely on human motivation to supply the rest. In a complete totalitarian situation, almost any absurd theory of eugenics could be justified, even if it expressed itself only against men with red beards.

ON THE LEVEL WITH INDIANS

Jews gazing in fascination at this Utopia are on the same level as Indians who swapped Manhattan Island for some strings of beads. They are in essence willing to trade the proud Jewish tradition and character for the granting by a Russian muzhik of shallow antecedents that the Jew is after all as good a human being as the muzhik. In return for this questionable assurance, this Jew with all history in back of him deliberately steps backward into the mass mentality of the peasant.

It is true that all of this is complicated with a facade of economic, demagogic materialism, but the mere electrification of Russia hardly alters any part of this premise.

At the same time, another variant of the State-regimented theory, Fascism, comes in for a lot of loud-voiced condemnation by our Jewish theorists and leaders. They look at Fascism as our natural enemy, yet how it can be any more so than Communism I fail to see.

FASCISTS TREAT JEWS WELL

Though most Fascist movements are infected with the German kind of virus, there is nothing to prevent Socialism from being tinged with this any place. In fact it would be a quite natural outcome of any kind of State regimentation for the future.

If one cares stupidly to point out a few individuals who have gained high position, one can point to the Italian Finance Minister Jung, a Hebrew who is in as high a state position at the moment as any Jew under the Soviets. Certainly Italian Fascism can hardly give the Jew any cause for complaint. It treats them exactly as it treats any other citizen under its method of government.

It is a cardinal error to line ourselves up against the unalterable course of events and make ourselves the sworn advance enemy of Fascism everywhere. It is perfect madness at a time when we need all the friends possible, to attempt to fight all the battles of the world by vociferously flaying the certain advent of Fascism in all countries of the world. If Fascism is our friend, we have no need to fight it. If it is our enemy, the need is immediately presented to us. Otherwise, as a people we stand directly athwart the path of world movement and like King Canute defying the waters, have no ability to bolster our rash position.

Certainly, if any people wants to be Fascist that is its own business as far as we can be concerned. Our whole job should be to find a dignified and manly way out without running counter to all the currents of modern existence. We should be principally devoted to maintaining our own responsibility and integrity, and even if the rest of the world should choose to be a madhouse, let it be as mad as it pleases.

We should accomplish this wherever we are by substituting quiet organization, discipline and political intelligence for ranting. If half the energy used by Jews to promote or fight all the half-baked febrile movements in this world was used directly to solve our own problems, they would have already been solved.

We must recognize a well conceived plan for ultimately resolving the entire equation. Such a plan was given us by the last of our great prophets, Theodor Herzl. To its fulfillment we should consecrate heart, will and mind.

In his foreword to “The Jewish State,” Herzl said:

“The Jewish State is essential to the world. It will, therefore, be created.”

This commanding genius predicted in detail every complication which has arisen to curse Jewish life since his time. With prophetic, bell-like words he closed his book:

“We shall live at last as free men on our own soil, and die peacefully in our own home. The world will be freed by our liberty, enriched by our wealth, magnified by our greatness. And whatever we attempt there to accomplish for our own welfare will react with beneficient force for the good of humanity.”

Here was no maudlin complaining, no transformation of the spirit of whining into a foolish desire to change the world. Here was simple manhood, dignified, proud and courageous, which would recover its own self-respect before telling others how to run their houses.
