The protest of Lithuanian Jewry against the action of the Lithuanian Government in destroying the last remnants of the previously granted Jewish communal autonomy, has had its effect. The Judicial Committee of the Lithuanian Diet today passed the first reading of a bill calling for the legalisation of the National Rat, the Jewish National Council of Lithuania which was, as will be recollected, recently dispersed by the police.
