Expressing admiration for the spirit of the Jews in Germany “who suffer from the intolerance of the governing power,” Dean John T. Madden, of the New York University School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance, discussed “Religion in the University” at a Newman Club dinner held at the Hotel Pennsylvania.

“The Newman Club, the Christian Association and the Menorah Society,” Dean Madden said, “working through the Interfaith Council, are vital forces in our university life. And while we live and dream in the free air of our university, let us not forget that these rights which we enjoy are not the privilege of all. We admire the spirit of the Jews in Germany who suffer from the intolerance of the governing power.

“It is only by education that free worship may be preserved and fostered,” Dean Madden stated.
