A number of German scholars exiled by the Nazis have been given posts in New York University, Chancellor Harry Woodburn Chase reported today in his annual message to the council of the university.

Funds for the professorships were raised by a special committee, which secured appropriations from the Rockefeller Foundation and other philanthropic institutions.

Among the visiting professors this year will be Dr. Richard Courant, mathematics; Dr. Fritz Morstein Marx, municipal government and administration, and Dr. Irwin Panofsky, art.
