Engagements this week include Miss Beatrice Hirschberg to Joel Ritz Parker of this city, son of Mrs. D. Parker of Pelham, N. Y., and the late Mr. Parker. Miss Hirschberg is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Hirschberg of Riverside drive.

Miss Hirschberg attended Calhoun School in this city and the National Park Seminary in Washington. Mr. Parker attended Columbia University and the Law School of St. Lawrence University. He is a member of the law firm of Kraus, Leman and Parker. The wedding will take place in the latter part of December. The brother of the groom, Rev. Dr. Benjamin M. Parker of Cambridge, Mass., will officiate.

Miss Beatrice Edith Serge, daughter of Mrs. Samuel A. Serge of this city, has pledged her troth to Samuel L. Schlossberg, also of New York.

Miss Serge is a Barnard graduate, class of 1932. Mr. Schlossberg was graduated from New York University in 1925. A December wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell W. Passerman of 115 West Seventy-third street, announce the birth of a son, Steven Richard, on October 14 at the Doctor’s Hospital. Mrs. Passerman, the former Miriam Rosenthal, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rosenthal of 251 West Eighty-ninth street.

A daughter, their second child, was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Frankel of 15 West Eighty-first street, last Sunday at the Doctor’s Hospital. Mrs. Frankel is the former Miss Selma Rentner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Rentner.

Dr. and Mrs. Vernon B. Herbst of Chicago have announced the engagement of Mrs. Herbst’s daughter, Miss Elinor Rosenwald, daughter of the late Morris Rosenwald and niece of the late Julius Rosenwald, to Dr. Joseph Harris of Los Angeles.

Mr. and Mrs. Lessing Rosenwald of Philadelphia have announced the surprise marriage of their daughter, Miss Helen A. Rosenwald, to Harry H. Snellenburg Jr. of Wyncote, Pa., on Monday night at Harrison, N. Y. Although it was an elopement, both families heartily approve of the marriage, the announcement of which was made by Mrs. Lessing Rosenwald.
