The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tevfik Rustu Bey, who represented the Turkish government at the funeral of King Alexander of Yugoslavia, received here representatives of the Jewish press on his way back to Turkey, and in reply to their questions about the recent anti-Jewish movement in Turkish Thrace, he said:

“The disturbances in this area were only an incident, and are definitely a matter of the past. The communiques issued by the Turkish government showed how swiftly the government acted against these anti-Jewish events.

“In our country no one is allowed to disturb law and order under any pretext whatever. We desire peace and discipline. Regrettable incidents such as the anti-Jewish disturbances in Thrace can never recur. “
